Garner was picked by the Power at pick 60 in the 2017 draft.
The midfielder/defender played his junior footy with Eastern Ranges and Vic Metro. A leader despite his tender years, Garner is renowned for his poise, decision making and elite left foot, often seen setting up as a quarter-back of sorts.
Joel made his debut in 2019, and is beginning to establish himself as a regular contributor to the Power's young and talented AFL side.
Joel Garner has since moved back to Victoria and signed with Footscray for the 2022 VFL season.
