Liam Wright is an Australian professional Super Rugby player for the Queensland Reds
Born in Durban, South Africa, Liam made the move to Australia with his family when he was seven years old. From here his rugby career blossomed as he represented Queensland on numerous occasions. In 2016 Wright was a member of the Queensland U20s that claimed the national title and he went on to win selection in the Australian U20s for the Junior World Cup in Manchester.
But 2017 was truly a remarkable year, as he celebrated an undefeated national title with the Queensland U20s, selection to a second Junior World Cup, Player of the Year honours for Australian U20s, a National Rugby Championship title with Queensland Country, an outing for Australia against the Barbarians and a call-up to the Wallabies’ Spring Tour as a development player.
By 2018, Liam was recruited by Super Rugby team Queensland Reds and in 2019 he was the only Queenslander to start every match of the Super Rugby season. He was rewarded with his Wallabies debut against the All Blacks as a result of this.
In 2020, Liam was thrust into leadership role as Captain of the Queensland Reds, amidst COVID-19 challenges and uncertainty within the game. He emerged from this an assured, resilient leader, and in 2024 is entering his fifth season as captain. This experience lends him to have an intimate understanding of leadership, performance, and culture/teamwork.
At a young age Liam has made huge strides in Rugby, earning plenty of praise and establishing himself as one of Australia’s top future Rugby players. His glowing career and charismatic personality is sure to leave any crowd in awe at your next event or opportunity.
