Scott Thompson is one of the Adelaide’s Crows most distinguished players. After having been a part of the club since 2001 and played 308 games, Scott announced his retirement during the 2017 season.

Thompson began his career at the Melbourne Football Club however was traded back to his hometown of Adelaide ahead of the 2001 season. Thompson’s career has been filled with consistency of the highest level and has consequently won an array of awards. Thompson’s career excelled as of 2010 when he was recognised as Adelaide’s Club Champion runner-up. This was the beginning for a remarkable run for Thompson. In the following two years, Thompson was awarded the Club Champion as he established himself as Adelaide’s dominant and key midfielder. Furthermore, his 2012 form saw him awarded a position in the honourable All-Australian team.

In conjunction with his on-field excellence, Thompson was also a key leader and integral figure in Adelaide’s structure. In 2014, Thompson was awarded Life Membership of the club and in 2015, was included in the six-man leadership group.

Whilst Thompson’s 2017 season saw him only play the one senior game, he played a pivotal role in the SANFL as he helped the development of the club’s younger players.  On top of his leadership role, Thompson left his mark on the Adelaide Football Club as he won the SANFL Club Champion. In his 308 senior appearances for the club, Thompson has fulfilled a remarkable career, kicking 162 goals whilst collecting an astounding 155 Brownlow votes.

In November 2017, Thompson was announced as a development coach for the Port Adelaide Football Club. As of 2022, Thompson is coaching the Unley Mercedes Jets in Division 2 of the Adelaide Footy League.
