Mackenzie “Mack” Horton has emerged as one of Australia’s most successful male swimming athletes.
Being raised and born in Melbourne, Mack began competitive swimming at the age of 10 and broke his first Australian-age record at 13. He continued to dominate and break records in each subsequent year. He began his international career in 2012 where he won the 1500m freestyle event at the Pan Pacific Swimming Championships. That same year, Horton also claimed the 1500m freestyle event at the 2012 FINA Swimming World Cup. However, it was Horton’s 2013 performance at the World Junior Championships in Dubai that brought him to the attention of the world. Horton dominated Dubai, taking out Gold in the 200m, 400m, 800m and 1500m Freestyle events as well as gold in the 4x100m Freestyle Relay. His first senior appearance saw him receive a Silver medal in the 1500m Freestyle as well as gold in the 4x200m Freestyle relay during the 2014 Commonwealth Games.
2016 was an outstanding year for Horton as he claimed Gold in the 400m and 1500m National Championships. Mack continued his stellar form into the 2016 Rio Olympics as he claimed Gold in the 400m freestyle relay at age 20. Horton has continued to excel in his 2017 season, dominating the National Championships with Gold in the 1500m, 400m and 200m Freestyle events. On the international stage, Horton continues to challenge the world’s best – most recently finishing 2nd and 3rd in the 400m and 1500m freestyle, respectively at the World Championships.
Mack’s outstanding form continued at the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games with Gold in the 400m Freestyle and Gold in the 4x 200m Freestyle Relay. Claiming Silver in the 200m Freestyle and Bronze in the 1500m Freestyle.
Mack is available for brand ambassadorships, keynote speaking and Q&A panels.
