Selected with Pick 1 in the 2003 National AFL Draft by the Western Bulldogs, Adam was recruited from SANFL Club, West Adelaide where he had made a huge impression on the local State League Competition. Coming to a club that was relatively struggling on field at the time, Adam made an immediate impression and gave the supporters some hope of turning the tide in the future seasons.
An elite ball winner, who could push forward and kick goals, Adam became one of the competitions most damaging midfielders. This form continued throughout the late 2000’s resulting in Adam winning the Brownlow Medal in 2008, whilst also being an integral part of the team’s success which led to back to back Preliminary Finals losses in 2009 and 2010 where they fell agonisingly close on both occasions. At the conclusion of the 2014 season, Adam was traded to the Essendon Football Club, playing a further two seasons before retiring at the end of 2016.
Since his retirement, Adam has immersed himself in the media landscape, providing special comments for AFL Nation, regular segments on SEN & SEN SA, whilst also holding roles with SuperFooty, Channel 7, and Ladbrokes. Adam has also been pivotal in the rise of Channel 7’s “Armchair Experts” which started online before being televised after the Football coverage.
