Enjoying a terrific year for the North Ballarat Rebels and St Patrick’s College, Tom was mainly utilised off the half back flank and wing position. This was also evident in the National Carnival where he represented Vic Country.
Originally from Ararat, Tom excelled at the National Combine Screening in October finishing right up the top in the kicking test, beep test, agility test, vertical jump, running vertical jump, and 3km time trial, proving his versatility.
One of the youngest in his Draft year, turning 18 mid way through December, Tom showed plenty of potential which led to Carlton selecting him. Making a terrific transition into his AFL career, Tom played 15 games in his debut season giving him a lot of confidence heading into his second season. Unfortunately a back injury hampered his output in 2018 & 2019, although after dedicating himself to his rehabilitation Tom had a terrific 2020 season playing 15 games and signing a two year contract extension. Used mainly off the half back, Tom also has the ability to play on the wing.
After playing only one game as an unused medical substitute in early 2022, Williamson took a leave of absence from the club in June due to undisclosed personal reasons, before retiring altogether one month later.
