Nathan Burke is a former Australian Rules footballer and current Head Coach of the Western Bulldogs AFLW team.

He was a tough rover who always backed himself in a contest and was one of the most courageous footballers to play for the St Kilda Football Club. He set the club record for most number of games at his retirement, with 323 games which was broken by former team-mate Robert Harvey in round 7, 2006. His tough playing style led to him using a helmet.

Burke now runs his own consultancy company specialising in leadership, resilience, mental health and well being.

His clients range from Dept. of Justice, Melbourne Grammar, Orange, AMP, ANZ and numerous sporting, educational and corporate companies.

In 2018/19 he was a Senior Assistant to St Kilda VFL Womens team as they prepare to enter AFLW in 2020. .He also coached the Vic Metro U/18 girls to an undefeated National Championships in 2019.

Recognition:  3 x St Kilda Best and Fairest Winner, 4 x All Australian (Vice Captain 1999), St Kilda Hall of Fame (elevated to Legend status 2019) StK Team of the Century, 11 x Vic' State of Origin (Captain and Vice Captain), AFL Life Member, Herald Sun, The Age, Channel 7 Player of the Year 1996.

He started his football playing career with the Pines Football Club. His professional career spanned 1987–2003 despite missing most of 2002 with a knee injury, with Burke deciding to retire late in the season, in the Round 18 clash with Richmond, which the Saints won by 80 points.

Burke had been a Director of the St Kilda Football Club from 2008 to 2015. He had joined the board with fellow player Andrew Thompson.

Nathan lives in Sandringham with his wife of 23 years Fiona and their three children Ruby 20, Molly 18 and Alice 16 After Burke's retirement from career football in 2003, he directed his talents into business as a leadership and culture consultant. For 6 years he joined the contact centres industry and was the Chief Engagement Manager and Chief Operating Officer for CallActive.

He is also a regular expert commentator on ABC Grandstand football coverage, an AFL analyst for Fox Sports News, columnist for The New Daily and co hosts the Sunday Session on ABC radio with Lehmo and Emma Race. This work compliments his corporate guest speaking and school resilience and leadership programs.[citation needed]

In 2015 he rejoined the AFL Match Review Panel, a role he held prior to joining the Board at St Kilda.

We had Nathan Burke visit our football club this evening and he was wonderfully engaging and spoke well. Several of our existing player group commented immediately after how much value they took from Nathan's words. He arrived right on time and at no time did he have us feeling time pressure toward the end of his time. A wonderful evening and very much added to by Nathan’s presence.
