Jamie Young is an Australian professional footballer currently goalkeeping for the Brisbane Roar Football Club in the Hyundai A League. In a career spanning 20 years Jamie has represented five clubs playing in England for 13 years and Australia for 7 years, making ~400 professional appearances. Jamie is a current PhD candidate at the University of Queensland and is the only professional athlete in Australia undertaking a PhD, specialising in the Psychology of Sports Coaching. Additionally, Jamie holds a Bachelor in Exercise and Sport Science and wrote his dissertation in human genomic research in professional football. Due to his playing and academic backgrounds, Jamie spends his time coaching goalkeepers at QPL, NPL, various schools and privately.

Extending further, Jamie provides motivational speaking presentations to a range of clients including corporate, schools, and sporting clubs around the greater area of Brisbane. He details his story of how he went from being the most dropped goalkeeper in A-League history to being voted fans' player of the year. The only goalkeeper ever to win such an award. Within this, Jamie details the secrets he used in order to improve his leadership, resilience, and determination to become one of the Brisbane Roar's greatest players. Presented concepts include how to be an effective leader, developing personal resilience, and how to construct an athlete mindset for success.

Outside of playing football, Jamie is a current ambassador for the MDA charity, helping to raise awareness for refugees and those seeking asylum. He enjoys taking the time to visit children at the Lady Cilento hospital through the Starlight Foundation. Additionally, he is a qualified hydrotherapist working with people with disability and chronic disease.
