Matthew Renshaw is an International Australian cricketer, currently playing for Queensland Cricket and BBL Adelaide Strikers. At just 24 years old Matt has already achieved a significant amount as a professional cricketer. Including being first called into the Australian Test squad at 20 years old and currently holding the youngest player to achieve the highest test score for Australia with 184 runs from his fourth Test match.
An opening batsman of old-fashioned, long-form temperament, Matt Renshaw was called into Australia's Test squad at the age of 20. He scored an impressive 71 against Pakistan at the Gabba in his second Test, and then at the SCG in his fourth Test batted throughout the first day to score his maiden Test century. He was eventually out for 184 - the highest Test score for Australia by a player so young.
At 19, Renshaw had become the youngest man ever to score a Sheffield Shield century for Queensland when he displayed his patience by compiling 170 in 395 balls on a slow, challenging pitch in Mackay. That 2015-16 campaign proved to be a breakout season with Renshaw Queensland's leading Shield run scorer with 738 at 43.41.
In November 2016 he was added to Australia's Test squad ahead of the third Test against South Africa. He made his Test debut on 24 November 2016 as an opening batsman, replacing his opening partner in Queensland, Joe Burns as well as the fielding position of short leg. His baggy green cap was presented by Ian Healy.
Renshaw scored his first Test century, 184, against Pakistan at the Sydney Cricket Ground in his fourth match. He became the 133rd Test centurion for Australia.
Renshaw became the first Australian cricketer to score 500 Test runs before turning 21 years of age and has scored the most number of Test runs before turning 21 years for Australia, with 524.
He also holds the record for the youngest first-class century maker for Queensland with 170runs in a QLD vs NSW shield match, and was the states leading Shield run scorer for the 15-16 season. In 2017, Matt was the first Australian cricketer to make 500 Test runs before turning 21, and still holds the Australian record for the greatest number of Test runs scored before turning 21 years old. He was named the Brisbane Heat MVP for the 2019/20 BBL09. He has also recently returned from playing County Cricket in England for the Kent County Cricket Club.
Matt has a number of off-field passions including getting his golf handicap down, playing video games & impressive gardening skills. A fan-favourite Matt currently enjoys brand partnerships with Gray Nicolls and Asics.
