Max is blessed with athletic genes.
Olympian Max Esposito burst into Australia’s consciousness at the Rio Olympic Games when he stormed home in the final discipline of the Men’s Modern Pentathlon to finish seventh from his starting place of seventeenth. His older sister Chloe won gold in the same event for women.
Max’s father Daniel is an Olympian and represented Australia in the LA Olympic Games. Daniel now coaches his children.
Following in his father’s footsteps, Max’s first international competition was in 2013 when he competed at the Oceania Championships in Kazakhstan. A very young Max finished in first place and that result, along with another win at the 2014 International Youth A Championships, qualified him for the 2014 Summer Youth Olympics. Max’s international exposure had commenced.
On 30 May 2015 in Beijing, China, the Asia/Oceania Championships were held. The event doubled as qualification for the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Max won the event and he and his sister Chloe, who won the women's event, became the first Australian athletes in any sport to qualify for the 2016 Olympic Games.
The Esposito family lives in Sydney and Hungary. Hungary is a centre of excellence for Modern Pentathlon and a good base for the European competition season.
Max is an energetic, well spoken and handsome young man who has a pedigree built on success. He understands that he represents Australia on the world stage and readily accepts the responsibilities that representation entails.
