Emily Bates is a three-time All-Australian, five-time club Best &
Fairest winner and a Premiership Player. In early 2022 when
she won the AFLW Season 6 W Medal (awarded to the best
player in the competition) she became just the second player
to take out the clean sweep of awards also claiming the AFL
Coaches Association’s Champion Player Award, and the AFL
Players’ Association’s MVP Award. In her last season as a Lion
Bates was awarded Best Finals player in addition to taking out
her fourth club B&F title.
In the 2023 Sign and Trade period she moved
to Hawthorn where she was awarded the Best
& Fairest and the Gold Standards Award in her
first year at the Hawks. At the beginning of the
2024 season she was named captain of the
club and finished second in the club’s
Best and Fairest at the end of that year.
