Nick Riewoldt is always going to be remembered as one of the most devoted and courageous footballers that the game has seen. His commitment and loyalty to the St Kilda football club was flawless, with 17 seasons and over 300 games at the club, whilst kicking an outstanding 718 goals. 

Riewoldt’s career started in 2001 after being drafted with first pick in the 2000 AFL national draft. Riewoldt managed to play 6 games in his first year due to an injury that continuously kept him sidelined, however Riewoldt’s determination and worth was presented in his second year, where he demonstrated excellent leadership abilities and was subsequently awarded the Trevor Barker Award in 2002, (Awarded to St Kilda’s Best and Fairest player for the year). 

Nick Riewoldt has placed himself as one of the greatest St Kilda players of all time and left a legacy that will be difficult to rival. Riewoldt was the club’s longest standing captain from 2007 - 2016, a six time winner of the Trevor Barker Award, and also led his team to two seperate grand finals in 2009 and 2010. Furthermore his ability in the forward line has seen him be awarded 5 All-Australian honours.

Nick Riewoldt’s personal interests 

Nick Riewoldt is an all-round sportsman who enjoys all sports and outdoor activities including fishing, golf, cricket and still loves kicking the football. Nick is currently happily retired with his wife Catherine and three boys.

Maddie’s Game

Although Riewoldt is an amazing athlete, he has always had a passion for family, with him starting a foundation for his sister Madeline who tragically passed away in 2015 due to a rare bone marrow disease. In her passing the Riewoldt family started the Snowdome foundation to support research into new treatments for blood cancer. Nick has been monumental in the success of this charity, using his football success to help raise funds and create awareness. In 2015 Nick created ‘Maddie’s Game’ to honor his recently passed sister. All the proceedings of the game go to the Snowdome charity to prevent blood cancer.
