About me
Matilda Scholz is a rising star of the AFLW and one of the competition’s most exciting young rucks. Standing at 189cm, she was recruited to Port Adelaide through the 2023 priority-signing period and has quickly made her mark with a rare blend of athleticism, competitive ruck craft and impressive ground-ball ability. Powerful and dynamic, Scholz commands attention both at club and league level.
From her very first season, Matilda built an impressive resume, playing every game in her debut year, earning Port Adelaide’s Best First Year Player award and finishing third in the club Best & Fairest. She followed this with a breakout 2024 campaign, winning the Club Best & Fairest, claiming the AFLW Rising Star award, and taking home Mark of the Year for a spectacular overhead grab.
By 2025, Matilda further cemented her dominance, winning back-to-back Best & Fairest honours, ranking among the competition leaders for hit-outs and score involvements, and earning selection in the 2025 All-Australian Team. Her consistency and impact around stoppages have established her as a cornerstone of Port Adelaide’s midfield structure and one of the league’s elite rucks.
Off the field, Matilda has built a strong personal brand through social media, connecting with a rapidly growing fanbase. Her Instagram account (@matilda.scholz) boasts more than 34,000 followers, while her TikTok presence continues to expand through engaging dance videos, behind-the-scenes moments and authentic lifestyle content, positioning her as a recognisable Gen-Z face of the AFLW.
Contracted with Port Adelaide until at least the end of 2027, Matilda Scholz represents the future of the league - both on and off the field.
