Melissa was originally recruited to Melbourne Demons with pick 11 in the 2013 womens draft. Originally from Mildura, Melissa plays her club football with the powerful Darebin Falcons. After strong performances in the exhibition games Mel was chosen as a marquee player with the Demons for the inaugural season of AFLW. Mel went on to play two seasons for the Geelong Cats AFLW team. Melissa is a reliable and flexible defender who can play tall or short. She is strong one-on-one with great composure and decision making.
Mel’s leadership and her preparation is second to none. A keen student of the game, Mel is committed to helping grow woman's football and to help develop the next batch of female stars. She is currently the Regional Development Coach Girls with the Geelong Falcons woman's.
Mel is incredibly well-spoken and a very experienced public speaker. Mel is currently a member of the Channel 7 AFLW commentary team.
