Donné Restom is a South African-born multidisciplinary artist whose career has spanned over two decades. Renowned as a creative powerhouse, she has built a reputation for pushing artistic boundaries and embracing unflinching authenticity in her work.
Donné spent three years in the USA under the moniker Kitt Clement, touring internationally with the acclaimed Los Angeles-based circus, Lucent Dossier Experience. Since returning to Australia to raise her son, she has continued to captivate audiences with her diverse talents. Her award-nominated one-woman show, Everyone in My Family Is Dead or About to Be, directed by Nadia Townsend (Boy Swallows Universe, Mad Max: Fury Road), earned critical acclaim for its deeply personal exploration of grief and resilience.
Donné is the founder of Kink in the Tale, a sell-out storytelling event, and an accomplished recording artist known for her evocative voice and genre-blending style. With three albums, two EPs, and songwriting credits across numerous Australian releases, she seamlessly combines jazz, blues, and pop influences. Often compared to Amy Winehouse, Nina Simone, and Adele, her performances shift effortlessly between raw vulnerability and electrifying energy.
Her latest project, Anatomy of Heart, created with long-time collaborator Aaron Flower, delves into themes of love, loss, and transformation. The album, set for release in 2025, features lush arrangements and poignant storytelling, with the first single, Great Circle, already available.
Beyond music and performance, Donné is also a skilled writer. Her fiction has earned accolades such as a supported residency at Varuna: The National Writers’ House and recognition in Australia’s largest fellowship program. Her editorial work has appeared in Drum Media, Music Feeds, and parenting publications such as Body+Soul and Kidspot.
Whether on stage, in the studio, or behind the pen, Donné Restom’s dynamic artistry continues to leave an indelible mark on audiences worldwide.
