With over 25 years of international experience, Anthony is a Professor of Architecture at the University of Technology Sydney (UTS), a graduate of Columbia University GSAPP, and an Honorary Fellow of the Australian Institute of Architects. His unique blend of academic authority and broadcast charisma makes him a sought-after host for high-stakes events across the design, architecture, and innovation sectors.

As a familiar face of ABC TV, Anthony hosts flagship productions including Grand Designs Australia, Restoration Australia, Culture by Design, and Grand Designs Transformations. On ABC Radio National, his program Anthony Burke’s By Design explores the human stories behind the objects and spaces that shape our lives. This extensive broadcast experience translates into a seamless, professional presence on stage, whether facilitating intimate panels or hosting large-scale awards ceremonies.

Anthony’s versatility as an MC and moderator is evidenced by a diverse portfolio of prestigious engagements. He has served as the multi-year MC for the Grand Designs House of the Year Awards and led critical industry discussions as the full-day moderator for the Australian Institute of Architects Urban Resilience event at the State Library QLD. His expertise in facilitating complex dialogues is further showcased by his roles moderating the Designing for Disaster panel at the University of Sydney, the UTS Big Ideas Conversation, and hosting The Australian Dream at the State Library of NSW.

A globally recognised commentator, Anthony’s curation work includes serving as Co-Creative Director of the Australian Pavilion at the Venice Architecture Biennale and curating Architecture Makes the City for the Sydney Opera House 40th Anniversary. A former TEDxSydney speaker, his work has been exhibited at SFMoMA and international biennales in Florence and Beijing. He has also held senior academic roles at the University of California, Berkeley and the University of Technology Sydney (UTS), where he has served as Head of School, Program Director and Associate Dean across different periods.
