Anthony Burke is an expert host and presenter, tour leader, architectural writer and Professor of Architecture in the Faculty of Design Architecture and Building at the University of Technology Sydney. A graduate of Columbia University GSAPP in NY, Anthony is an Honorary Fellow of the Australian Institute of Architects and recognised internationally for his work in architectural design, curation and commentary, with over 25 years experience celebrating the value of good design and architecture around the world. Anthony currently hosts a series of productions for the ABC including ‘Grand Designs Australia’, ‘Restoration Australia’ and co-hosts ‘Grand Designs Transformations’. He is host and producer for a new show on south east Asian design cultures to be released on ABC international in 2025.

Curating expert tours around the world to visit significant architecture, Anthony continues to curate tours and led groups to Japan, the US, Scandinavia and soon to include Brazil.

Anthony is a regular contributor to architectural media and public forums as an animated advocate for design and architecture. He writes for ABC news online, and is editor at large for Grand Designs Magazine since 2023.

In 2012 Anthony was co-creative director of the Australian Pavilion at the Venice Architecture Biennale, presenting "Formations; New practices in Australian Architecture". In the same year, he presented at TEDx Sydney, and in 2013 Anthony curated the Architecture and Design symposium "Architecture Makes the City" for the 40th Anniversary celebrations of the opening of the Sydney Opera House. He has exhibited at venues such as SFMoMA, the Venice Architecture Biennale, Beyond Media in Florence and the Beijing Architecture Biennale. A director of Offshore Studio from 2000-2016, in 2010 he founded Open Agenda 2010-2015, an annual speculative design research competition, exhibition and publication for emerging Australian architects. Previously he was Assistant Professor in Architecture at the University of California, Berkeley (2002 and 2007) before returning to Australia. He has served as Head of the School of Architecture at UTS for two terms from 2010-2017, Directed the UTS Masters of Architecture program from 2021-2024 and was Associate Dean of International and Engagement from 2017-2019. He has been an invited architectural judge for the London Design Week, Timber Development Association Awards, Grand Design House of the Year Awards and many more, and has served on numerous design excellence review panels and committees in Design and Architecture.
