With an impressive 21 years of experience in the world of surfing, Sarah’s journey began at the age of 8. Hailing from the shores of South Africa, she has become a force to be reckoned with in the surfing world. However, her path has been far from smooth, marked by extraordinary triumphs and adversity. 

Sarah has established her new home in Redhead, Australia, where she now resides. In 2019, she began her journey to re-enter the world of surfing.  A fresh start allowed her to reignite her connection with surfing, rekindling her love for the waves and the thrill of competition. 

With her signature determination, she returned to the Qualifying Series, showcasing her unparalleled talent and securing major career victories. This rekindled passion led to qualifications for the Challenger Series in 2022 and 2023, setting her sights on the coveted Championship Tour. Sarah’s strength is undeniable, especially under the pressures of high-stakes competition. Her remarkable form this year has placed her in the spotlight, earning her a wildcard entry to the J-Bay Championship. There, she showcased her exceptional skills and competitive energy, earning 5th place. As the Paris 2024 Olympics approach, “Baumy” is primed to represent South Africa on the world stage, driven by a determination to elevate her nation’s surfers in the global arena. 

Looking ahead, Sarah plans to maintain a presence in the Challenger Series and aspires to secure a spot on the World Championship tour, capture a world title, and serve as a beacon of inspiration for the LGBTQIA+ community and underprivileged athletes. Her role as a mentor and influencer for young, aspiring athletes speaks to her character and her unwavering commitment to cultivating dreams. Her story is a testament to the human spirit’s ability to overcome adversity, rise above challenges, and inspire others to reach for their own greatness.
