Alexandra "Chids" Chidiac is a professional footballer, debuting with the Matildas in 2015 at just 16 years old. Eight years on and Chids has been a frequent figure and well loved character of the Australian National Team.
After numerous stints overseas, including in Spain, Japan, the US and most recently, Mexico, Chids has just returned home to Australia, signing with Melbourne Victory FC in the Liberty A-League Women's competition. This deal makes her one of the first long-term marquee players in the competition's history.
At the age of 24, Chids has picked up numerous trophies and medals in her time, including 2 x A-League Women's Championships, 1 x Liga F Championship (Spain), 2 x PFA Young Player of the Year awards and the Melbourne Victory Medal. Most recently, Chids took out the 2022/23 Julie Dolan Medal, claiming Australian domestic football's highest individual honour in just 13 games.
Chids has a cult following across Australian and global football, affectionately known for her genuine and, somewhat cheeky, engagement with fans. Her signature look of baggy shorts and low socks has become well known across the sport.
Outside of football, Chids is passionate about community work, actively supporting and volunteering for sport for good programs. She is continuing her education in this space, hoping to one day be able to improve the lives of people through football. Some of the programs she has and is continuing to work with are: The Big Issue Street Soccer Program (AUS), Moving the Goalposts (Kenya), Football United (NSW) and One Culture Football (SA).
