Born in Queensland, Ben McDermott moved to Tasmania for further opportunities in 2015 and has thrived ever since.
McDermott's performances in the 2017/18 Big Bash League for the Hurricanes, along with his player of the tournament award for Tasmania in the 2018 JLT Cup, saw him selected to make his International debut for Australia in Dubai in 2018.
In December 2021, McDermott became the first player to hit back to back centuries in the Big Bash League and also the first player to hit three centuries in the Big Bash League.
In March 2022, in the second match against Pakistan, McDermott scored his first century in ODI cricket.
Ben is the son of former Australian Fast Bowler, Craig McDermott.
