About me

John Aloisi is one of the most iconic footballers Australia has ever produced with his name etched in the country’s sporting folklore following one memorable night in November 2005.

Born to Italian parents in Adelaide, he made his professional debut for Adelaide City aged 15 before embarking on 15-year career in Europe which saw him become the first and only Aussie to play in Europe’s top three leagues (English Premier League, Italian Serie A and Spanish La Liga).

A Socceroos debutant in 1997, John became a national sporting icon when his penalty took Australia to their first World Cup in 32 years and scored in the Socceroos first World Cup win against Japan.

An A-League Championship winner with Sydney FC in 2010, the 55-time Socceroo transitioned into coaching and in 2012 was appointed Manager of Melbourne Heart.

After three and half years at the helm of Brisbane Roar in the mid-to-late 2010s, John was appointed Manager of Western United in 2021 and in his first season at the club led them to Championship glory.

A charismatic personality who is capable of captivating a large audience, he has also appeared on Fox Sports and Optus Sport as an expert pundit and in 2021 fronted the Heart Foundation’s ‘Give with Heart’ fundraising campaign following his own health scare.
