Nick made his Hyundai A-League debut for the Central Coast Mariners in the 2009/10 season. He then jumped to the Brisbane Roar where he won an A-League championship. In 2013 Fitzgerald rejoined the Mariners up until 2016. He was then moved to Melbourne City where he remains. He was also selected to represent the Australian Olympic Football team in an Asian Olympic Qualifier match against Iraq.
