Starting off her career with the Oakleigh Chargers in the NAB League and then progressing onto playing for Collingwood’s VFLW team. In 2019, Alana was part of the history making Collingwood VFLW team winning the club's first Premiership at that level.
Later in that year, Alana Porter was drafted to Collingwood at pick 82 in the 2019 AFLW Draft.
Debuting in the 2020 season, Porter was seen to run out for all of the seven Pies’ games. After showing outstanding performance in her debut season, Porter received the Best First Year Player Award for 2020.
Porter became known as a fierce competitor and is regarded to handle leaps to a new level in an unfazed manner. She also comes from an athletics background and specialised in long jump.
