A former Basketballer who had aspirations of playing US College Basketball. Late to pick up a football, she competitively began playing in 2018 with Eastern Ranges.
Continuing to impress at every opportunity, Mikala represented Victoria Metro at the National Championships in 2018. Later in the year she was part of the VFL Premiership team with Hawthorn, as the sides youngest member.
Mikala was then taken with Pick 13 in the 2018 NAB AFLW Draft by Collingwood. Known by her teammates as “the Bull”, Cann is a very competitive midfielder who wins her own ball and plays with zest and passion. Her elite running allows her to create numbers around the contest and transition both ways.
At just 20-years-old, Cann already has two VFLW premierships to her name (Hawthorn 2018 and Collingwood 2019).
After making her AFLW debut with the Pies in 2019, the midfielder has continued her strong form with the club and having her best year yet in 2022, notching up 33 career games. She also went on to finish 3rd in the club’s Best & Fairest Award

Interest & Hobbies
Off the field, Mikala has a passion and interest in nutrition and anything health related. Mikala has finished her undergraduate degree in a Bachelor of Exercise Sport Science at Deakin University and intends to potentially complete her masters sometime in the future. Mikala has a dream to build her own business focusing on personal training.
