Hi I’m Scott McDonald, former Australian professional footballer player.
I was born and raised in the south east suburbs of Melbourne to Scottish parents.
Football or soccer in as known in Australia was always a passion and love growing up in our household and I have been very privileged to have been able to have had a professional playing career in the game that lasted over 20 years, the majority of it being in the UK, leaving these shores at the age of 16 to go and pursue a dream that became a reality!
I was lucky to play for the Australian Socceroos 26 times and also some top clubs along the way, including:
Southampton FC/Bournemouth FC/Huddersfeild/Wimbledon/
MotherwellFC/CelticFC/ Middlesbrough FC/ Millwall FC/ Dundee United/ Western United/ Brisbane Roar/ Western Sydney Wanderers.
I am the current Head coach of the Gold Coast Knights FC (NPL Queensland).
Uefa A licence holder and UefaPro licence candidate 1 year into the course.
I’m also very passionate about working in the media industry and have had vast experience over the last decade working in football with some great people and companies in the UK and Australia as a BBC Scotland Presenter/ Match Analyst /Co-Commentator/ pundit for Champions League/Europa League/SPFL/ With BBC Sport Sound/BT Sport and now Optus Sport Australia.
