Stewart McSweyn is an Australian middle and long distance running star from King Island, Tasmania.

After making his World Championships debut in 2017 in London, he participated in the final of the 5,000m and 10,000m events at the 2018 Commonwealth Games.

A regular on the Diamond League circuit, ‘Stewy’ made the finals of the 5,000m event at the 2019 World Championships in Doha and rounded out the year with a bang.

In December 2019, he broke the Australian record for 10,000m by running 27:23:80 at the Zapotek:10 to win his third successive national championship at that distance.

An Australian record breaker at the 1,500m and 3,000m events on the Diamond League circuit, Stewy made his Olympic debut at the rescheduled 2021 Tokyo Olympics.

He finished seventh in the final of the 1,500m event – Australia’s best result in the race since 1960 – with an impressive time of 3.31.91.

Stewart recently won Bronze at the 2023 Bathurst World Cross Country Championships in the Mixed Relay while also making it to the final of the 5000m race at the 2023 World Championships in Budapest.

Stewy competed in his second Olympic Games in Paris in both the 1500m and 5000m, doing Australia proud.
