Alicia Lucas (nee Quirk) OAM is a retired professional Australian Rugby 7’s player and current Stan Sport and World Rugby pundit and commentator. She won a gold medal at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio and a silver medal at the 2018 Commonwealth Games. She is a 2x World Series Champion and a World Cup bronze medalist.
She returned to playing after the birth of her first daughter Matilda overseas and retired shortly after in September 2022. She is a mother of 2 girls and currently a HSBC SVNS ambassador and Global Rugby Players Foundation founder, supporting players as they transition beyond the game.
Alicia was the first female in Australia to lead commentate an international Rugby match in Australia.
CAREER HIGHLIGHTS
- One of the first Australian Women's 7's players to be professionally contracted by the Australian Rugby Union.
- Named player of the tournament in the Dubai leg of the 2014 World Series event
- World Series champions for the 2015/2016 season with this being the first ever Australian team male or female to win the World Series
