A beautifully balanced midfielder, Hamish Hartlett is an important cog in the Power’s midfield set-up. An AIS-AFL Academy graduate, Hartlett played senior football with West Adelaide prior to being selected at pick four during the 2008 NAB AFL Draft.

In his first two seasons for Port, Hartlett managed 15 games, averaging an impressive 16.2 disposals. Seasons 2011 and 2012 saw him play a further 31 games collectively, averaging 20.8 and 19.8 disposals a game, respectively. Hartlett began to form a more consistent spot in Power’s growing midfield, gaining experience and maturity in what was a senior midfield.

Hartlett’s 2013 campaign was a breakout season for the midfielder, being the first of a string of years where he excelled. In 2013, Hartlett averaged 20 disposals a game whilst kicking 16 goals for the year whilst in 2014 he improved that further, kicking 21 goals and averaging 21.4 disposals. However, perhaps his best year to date came in 2015 where he collected an average of 22.2 disposals, 3.4 clearances and an impressive 5.9 tackles. In this year, Hartlett made a partial transition to the half-back line where his rebound and execution of the ball was imperative to his side’s counter-attack. His outstanding leadership was also recognised through his elevation to vice-captain at the season’s end.

2017 was another great year for Hamish as his leadership in defence, in conjunction with his elite disposal of the ball, played a significant factor in Port’s successful season. His averaged 17.9 disposals a game as well as 5 marks and 2.2 tackles. Hamish will now look towards the 2018 season where he will hope to play his 150th AFL game for the Power.

Hamish has since moved into the coaching realm post playing career, he has been announced as a Development Coach at the Port Adelaide Football Club for 2023.
