A lightning quick half back, Hunt was recruited from Brighton Grammar by Melbourne in the 2013 NAB AFL Draft. Despite not playing a TAC Cup game, Hunt had shown enough for Melbourne to draft him with pick 57.

His ability to break-lines and close in on opponents poses as a key trait to his game.

Jayden debuted for the Demons during the 2016 season where he played 19 impressive games, showcasing his speed and agility. The medium-defender provides great run and carry as well as versatility for Melbourne’s backline, often being the runner that links plays from the defensive half.

Jayden’s 2017 campaign was a further advancement in the young athlete’s career. His game evolved into a more attacking and dynamic game that provided Melbourne with superb rebound and speed off the half-back line. Jayden averaged 18 disposals in his 22 games as well as 2.6 rebounds a game. Jayden’s best performance arguably came in his Round 3 game against Geelong where he collected 30 disposals, including 5 rebounds and a goal.

An injury interrupted 2018 campaign saw Hunt play just 6 AFL games before playing a major role in Casey’s VFL finals campaign. Contracted with Melbourne until the end of the 2022 season.

At the conclusion of the 2022 AFL season, Hunt exercised his rights as a free agent and moved to the West Coast Eagles.
